How LARP works
for vendors

Getting started

Set up in four steps

If you're already renting, most of what you need is already in your head or your phone. LARP just gives it a permanent home.

1
Add your rental items

Create a listing for each item you rent out — add photos, a description, your daily price, and deposit amount. Takes about two minutes per item.

Start with your most-rented items and add the rest later.
2
Add your renters

Bring in your existing contacts — name, phone, email. LARP stores a full rental history per person so you always know who has rented what, and when.

No need to start from scratch — your relationships come with you.
3
Record a rental

When a renter wants an item, record the rental: pick the item, the renter, the dates, and the agreed price. LARP checks availability and flags any conflicts automatically.

Works whether the rental came through text, Marketplace, or Instagram.
4
Coordinate the handoff

Log the pickup when the item leaves and the return when it comes back. If anything comes back damaged, record the details on the rental. LARP tracks the full timeline.

Every step is on the record if there's ever a dispute.
Day-to-day management

Everything in one place, every day

Once your items and renters are in, LARP handles the ongoing work of keeping things organized — so you spend less time managing and more time renting.

📅
Availability at a glance

The calendar shows what's out, what's overdue, and every pickup and return coming up — and new rentals are checked against existing bookings automatically.

🔔
Overdue tracking

The moment a rental goes past its return date, it's flagged as overdue on your dashboard, calendar, and rental list — nothing slips by unnoticed.

💰
Deposit tracking

Log what was collected, what was refunded, and what was withheld. Every deposit has a clear paper trail so there's no confusion after the fact.

📷
Damage notes

If something comes back damaged, record the details on the rental itself — every incident stays tied to a specific renter and date.

👤
Renter history

Pull up any renter and see every item they've rented, dates, prices, and any notes you've added. No more digging through texts.

📊
Rental status at a glance

Every rental has a status — Reserved, Picked up, Returned, Overdue. Your dashboard shows exactly where things stand without having to look it up.

No switching required

Works with how you already find renters

LARP doesn't replace how renters discover you — it gives you a place to manage the rental once they do. However a rental starts, record it in LARP.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from rental owners getting started with LARP.

Do my renters need to sign up for LARP?
No. LARP is a management tool for you, the vendor. Your renters don't need an account — you track everything on their behalf. If LARP ever launches a public marketplace, you'll be able to choose whether to make your listings visible.
What if I already track rentals in a spreadsheet?
LARP is built for exactly this transition. Adding your existing items and renters is quick — most vendors are fully set up in under 15 minutes — and from then on LARP replaces the spreadsheet. (A spreadsheet import is on the roadmap.)
Can I manage rentals that come from different sources?
Yes — that's the point. Whether a rental starts on Facebook Marketplace, Instagram, a referral, or a repeat customer texting you directly, you record it in LARP the same way. LARP doesn't care how the rental started.
How do I handle items that are rented for weeks or months at a time?
Rentals can span any duration. You set the start and end date when you record the rental, and it stays on your dashboard and calendar until it's returned — so long-term rentals don't fall through the cracks.
What happens if a renter is late returning an item?
LARP marks the rental as Overdue once the expected return date passes and it hasn't been logged as returned. It's flagged on your dashboard and calendar, and the item stays blocked until it's back.
Can I track partial payments or custom pricing?
Yes. Each rental has a price you set at the time you record it. You can log deposits separately, note what was collected, and record what was refunded. There's no requirement to use standardized pricing.
Is my data private?
Your inventory and renter information are private to your account. LARP doesn't share or expose your data to other users. If you choose to publish listings publicly in the future, that's opt-in.
Does LARP take a cut of my rentals?
No. LARP is a management platform, not a marketplace. There's no commission on rentals you manage through LARP. Pricing is subscription-based, with a free tier to get started.
